BREAST CANCER CAN STRIKE ALL WOMEN OF ANY AGE.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure recommends the following screening guidelines:
-Annual screening mammography for women starting at age 40
-Women under 40 with either a family history of breast cancer or other
concerns about personal risk should consult with a trained medical
professional  about risk assessment and when to begin mammography
-Clinical breast examinations by a trained medical professional at least every 3
years starting at age 20, and annually after 40
-Monthly breast self-examination starting at age 20

When breast cancer is found EARLY, over 90% of the women who get it, will LIVE.  The TWO biggest risk factors in developing breast cancer are being a woman and getting older.

While all women are at risk to develop breast cancer, some populations are more at risk:
-Economically disadvantaged women who have financial challenges
    -Senior women
    -Minorities

Woman may be at even higher risk if she has any of the following:
-A personal history of ovarian cancer
-A relative who has had breast cancer before menopause
-A personal history of breast biopsy
-Being young (12 or under) at the time of your first period
-Starting menopause later (over 55 years)
-Never being pregnant, or having your first child after age 30
-Having a mutated cancer gene BRCA1 or BRCA2

Other facts about breast cancer:
-About 40,470 women and 460 men die every year from breast cancer
-Every three minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer
-Every 12 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer
-When breast cancer is diagnosed early, the five year survival rate is over 95%
